Keep Moving Forward

Tuesday 15th October 2024 may seem like an ordinary day in the middle of a busy week, but it’s also the anniversary of a moment in history that still inspires today. On this date in 1987, Sir Richard Branson made headlines with his second attempt to cross the Atlantic in a hot air balloon. Despite facing challenges and dangers that would have turned most people back, Branson kept going, showing immense courage and perseverance. It’s a brilliant reminder that even when things seem impossible, we are called to keep moving forward, trusting in God.

This story of persistence and resilience can be related to our own walk of faith. We often face seasons of life where the winds seem to push us off course, or when the challenges ahead look too difficult. But, like Branson’s daring journey, we are called to push forward, keeping our eyes fixed on God. In times of uncertainty, it’s vital to remember that God is always at the helm, guiding us through the storms of life.

Fix Your Eyes on the Goal

The apostle Paul understood this concept well when he wrote: “I press on towards the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenwards in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:14). Paul wasn’t just talking about short-term goals; he was talking about the ultimate goal of life—our calling in Christ. Like Branson, who had to stay focused on his goal of crossing the Atlantic, we too must keep our eyes on Jesus, trusting Him to lead us through the rough patches.

The Christian journey isn’t easy. We all face personal struggles, perhaps at work, in our families, or even with our health. But God has a plan for us, and when we press on, we move closer to the destiny He has for us.

Moving Forward Despite Obstacles

When we look at the life of Moses, we see a leader who was called to do the impossible: lead the Israelites out of Egypt and into the Promised Land. Yet, time and time again, Moses faced obstacles—both external and internal. In Exodus 14:15, as the Israelites found themselves trapped between the Red Sea and the Egyptian army, the Lord told Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on.”

It’s easy to feel stuck, like the Israelites did. Perhaps you’ve found yourself in a situation that feels like a dead-end, with no easy escape. But God’s word to us today is the same as it was to Moses: “Move forward.” Even when the way seems blocked, God will make a path where there appears to be no way. Trust Him and keep moving.

A Moment to Reflect

Reflection Verse: “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” – Galatians 6:9

Reflection Question: What challenges are you currently facing that make you want to give up? How can you trust God to help you move forward?

Action Step: Today, identify one area of your life where you feel stuck or discouraged. Ask God to give you the strength to move forward, even if it’s just one small step of faith. Write down a goal and commit it to prayer, trusting God to guide you through.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for being with me in every season of my life. I know there are times when the road seems hard, and I feel like giving up, but I choose to trust in Your strength. Help me to keep moving forward, trusting that You are guiding me towards the purpose and future You have set for me. When I am tempted to give up, remind me of Your faithfulness, and help me to persevere. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
