Today, Wednesday 15th January 2025, we’re closing a chapter that has undoubtedly been filled with faith, encouragement, and a whole lot of Jesus. If you’re reading this, you’re probably already aware that this will be the last daily devotional for quite some time. It’s not an easy thing to say, and perhaps it’s not an easy thing to hear, but just like Ecclesiastes reminds us, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1). This is one of those times.
When a new season begins, it often catches us off guard. Change, even when it comes from God, can feel unsettling. Can I let you in on a little secret? This decision, though prayed over, discussed, and thought through, still feels a bit wild. But isn’t that often how God works? He shifts us, nudges us, and sometimes outright pushes us onto new paths where we can shine His light in ways we didn’t expect.
For me, this new path looks like stepping into a new job—working three days a week in the Upper Room of a store, being a Lighting Specialist. It’s a bit of a change from the world of IT, right? But what I love is the image of light. Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12). I can’t help but feel that this new season is an opportunity to bring more of His light into the community of Wadebridge, Cornwall—quite literally.
One of the hardest things about this season of change is having to pause these daily devotionals, which have been a joy and privilege for me to create since 1st September 2024. That’s over 130 devotionals! Some days, the words seemed to flow effortlessly; other days, let’s just say… there was a lot of tea involved. Yet in all of them, God showed up. And my prayer is that He will continue to show up in new and unexpected ways, both in my life and yours.
So, what happens next? For me, I’ll be spending more of my evenings with God—praying, worshipping, swimming in His Word. I’ll still be serving in my local church as the Technical Lead for AV, cooking for Men’s Breakfasts, and (of course) continuing my work in IT and my new role at the shop. I’m also battling some health issues (M.E., Fibromyalgia, CFS), so resting in God will be vital in this season. Psalm 46:10 gives me so much peace: “Be still, and know that I am God.”
As for these devotionals, I firmly believe this is not the end—just a pause. During this time off, I’ll begin developing new series, all of which I pray will deepen our walk with Jesus. When the Lord leads and my schedule eases, I’ll jump back into this ministry with fresh energy and a fresh heart. Until then, let me leave you with a challenge.
A Reflection Question
What is God asking you to do in this season of your life? Are you making space to clearly hear His voice?
A Moment to Reflect
Whether you’re stepping into something new, still waiting for clarity, or simply staying faithful in the present, know that God is with you. Take a moment today to ask Him: “What would You have me do with my time, my talents, and my heart right now?” And don’t forget to listen.
A Prayer
Lord, today we come before You with grateful hearts for all that You’ve spoken through these devotionals. Thank You for guiding us, comforting us, and challenging us every single day. As we step into new seasons, remind us that Your plans for us are always good, even if the road looks uncertain. Help us trust You fully. Strengthen those who feel weary and renew their passion for You. Let us be Your vessels, shining Your light wherever You lead us. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
