Good morning, everyone!
Welcome to Wednesday—hump day, as they say. We’re smack in the middle of the week, and it’s the perfect time for a little midweek encouragement.
Now, here’s something interesting about today, 4th September: On this day in 1888, George Eastman registered the trademark “Kodak” and received a patent for his camera that used roll film. This invention was a game-changer, making photography accessible to the average person and revolutionising how we capture and remember moments. Imagine how different life would be without the ability to take a quick snap on your phone and share it instantly. It all started with a bit of innovation and a willingness to embrace change.
This got me thinking about how we deal with change in our own lives. Change can be exciting, but let’s be honest—it can also be a bit scary. We like our routines, our comfort zones, and the predictability of life. But sometimes, God calls us to step out into something new, something that requires us to trust Him more deeply.
The Bible is full of stories where God leads His people into the unknown. Think about Abraham, who was called to leave his homeland and go to a place God would show him later (Genesis 12:1). Or consider the Israelites, who had to trust God as they left Egypt and ventured into the wilderness (Exodus 13:17-18). These moments of change were pivotal—they required faith and a willingness to step into the new things God was doing.
In Isaiah 43:19 God declares, “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland” (NIVUK). This verse is a powerful reminder that God is always at work, even in the midst of change. He’s not just rearranging the furniture; He’s creating something entirely new. Our job is to trust Him and be willing to follow where He leads, even if it feels a bit uncomfortable at first.
So, as you go through your day today, think about the changes you might be facing—whether it’s a new job, a new relationship, or even just a new way of thinking about something. Instead of resisting it, why not embrace it with faith? After all, God’s plans are always for our good, even if we can’t see the full picture just yet.
Reflection Verse: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”—Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIVUK)
Let’s approach today with a spirit of trust and openness, knowing that God is leading us into something new and beautiful, just as He always has.
