Good morning, church family!
Happy Sunday! The first day of September—can you believe it? It feels like just yesterday we were celebrating the start of summer, and now here we are, stepping into a new month with all its promises and potential. There’s something special about the first of the month, isn’t there? It’s like opening a brand-new notebook, with pages yet to be filled. A fresh start, a new beginning, and a chance to reset.
Now, speaking of new beginnings, did you know that on this day in 1985, the wreck of the RMS Titanic was discovered on the floor of the North Atlantic? After years of searching, a team of explorers finally found what was once thought lost forever. It was a moment of revelation, bringing closure to a story that had captured the world’s imagination for decades.
This discovery reminds me of how God works in our lives. Sometimes, there are parts of our past—dreams, hopes, even parts of ourselves—that seem lost, buried beneath the weight of life’s challenges. But just like the Titanic was found, God is in the business of rediscovering and restoring what we thought was gone. He has a way of bringing to light the things we’ve long given up on, renewing them in ways we never imagined.
The Bible tells us in 2 Corinthians 5:17 – “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (NIVUK). This is the ultimate fresh start—when we give our lives to Christ, we’re not just given a clean slate; we’re made new. Our past is redeemed, and our future is filled with hope.
So, as we step into this new month, let’s take a moment to reflect. What parts of your life feel like they’re lost at sea? What dreams have you let go of? Remember, God is the ultimate Restorer. He’s more than capable of bringing life back to the things you thought were beyond hope.
Let today be a reminder that with God, it’s never too late for a fresh start. Whether it’s a new season in your spiritual walk, a relationship that needs mending, or simply a renewed sense of purpose, God is ready to lead you into something new and beautiful.
Reflection Verse: “He has made everything beautiful in its time.”—Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NIVUK)
As we gather today, let’s embrace the newness God offers, trusting that He is at work in every season of our lives—even the ones that feel like they’ve been long forgotten.
