Good morning, church family!
Happy Monday, 9th September 2024! I hope you’ve started your day with a good cuppa because today is about embracing the new week with fresh hope and trust. Now, here’s something fun: on this day in 1839, the first-ever photograph of the Moon was taken. Yep, someone actually pointed their camera at the night sky and thought, “Let’s capture this celestial beauty!” Fast forward to now, and we’re posting selfies with filters—how far we’ve come!
Thinking about that first photograph of the Moon got me reflecting on how we often want things captured instantly—like when we wish God would just show us what the future holds. But here’s the thing: just like the old cameras, life isn’t always about instant results. Sometimes, God’s timing is like that slow, long-exposure photograph; you don’t always see what He’s doing right away, but trust me—something beautiful is developing!
Ecclesiastes 3:11 says: “He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end” (NIVUK). It’s a timely reminder that while we may not understand what God is doing, His plans are always in motion, working together for our good.
Let’s be real for a second: waiting on God can feel like watching paint dry—or worse, like waiting for that annoying loading circle on your phone screen to disappear. But what we sometimes forget is that God’s timing is perfect. If He’s making us wait, it’s because He’s preparing something beyond what we can imagine. He’s like the ultimate artist, carefully crafting the masterpiece of our lives. And masterpieces? They take time.
Reflection Question:
What’s something you’ve been waiting for that you can surrender to God today, trusting His perfect timing?
Action Step:
This week, when you find yourself frustrated with delays or unanswered prayers, take a deep breath, pause, and remind yourself: “God is working, even when I don’t see it.”
Remember, just because we don’t see immediate results doesn’t mean God isn’t moving. Keep trusting Him, and like that old photo of the Moon, you’ll soon see the beauty He’s been crafting all along!
